Billing and subscriptions
The TraceFast explorer is free. Access to the API with a key is a subscription: the plan decides which methods your keys may call, how many requests a day the account gets and how fast it may send them.
These billing rules form part of the Terms of Service, together with the Refund & Cancellation Policy; where this page and the Terms conflict, the Terms prevail.
Three commitments come before anything else on this page:
- All purchases are final and non-refundable. A monthly subscription is the way to try the product. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- The moment a subscription is no longer in good standing, the account returns to Free and every API key on it is revoked. A revoked key never comes back, even if payment succeeds afterwards: after paying, issue new keys.
- A downgrade and a cancellation revoke every API key on their effective date. On that date you create new keys.
A subscription is not access
Access to the API is decided by your account's plan, and by nothing else. A subscription is the thing that moves the plan: a settled payment raises it, and a failed renewal or the end of a paid period lowers it to Free. The subscription state shown in Settings → Billing is the platform's record of what the payment provider last reported, and it can lag by seconds. What applies is always the plan.
Plans
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | API access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | — | none — the explorer only |
| Enriched Data | $29 per month | $290 per year | the Enriched Data methods |
| Intelligence | $99 per month | $990 per year | Enriched Data and Intelligence methods |
| Investigation | $249 per month | $2,490 per year | every method |
The prices above are before tax. Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, adds VAT or GST where it applies, so the total on the payment page depends on your country: a customer in Germany pays $29.00 plus $5.51 VAT — $34.51 — for Enriched Data monthly, while in the United States the total is $29.00.
Payment is always in US dollars. There is no choice of currency and no conversion to a local currency on the payment page.
Which methods each plan opens is on API keys; daily quotas, request rates and the number of keys per plan are on the pricing page.
There is no trial and there are no promo codes.
Buying a subscription
- Press Subscribe for the plan and interval you want. TraceFast opens Dodo Payments' payment page; that page carries its own timer, around fifteen minutes. If it runs out, press Subscribe again — a fresh page is created.
- Pay. Dodo Payments returns you to Settings → Billing.
- The plan rises when the payment is confirmed, usually within seconds.
- Issue your first API key after that. A Free account has no keys — see managing API keys.
Paying and managing the subscription
TraceFast's payment provider, Dodo Payments, is the merchant of record. Your payment method, billing details, invoices, plan changes and cancellation live in Dodo Payments' customer portal, which you reach with Manage subscription on Settings → Billing in the TraceFast app. The button appears only for an account that has had a subscription: before the first payment there is nothing to manage.
Settings → Billing itself shows the subscription as the payment provider last reported it: its state, the Next charge date (a charge date, not the end of access), Access expected to end when an end is already known (a forecast — the plan still decides access), and the last Payment. An account that never subscribed reads No subscription, with a link to the plans. When the platform cannot say, the screen reads Subscription status not available rather than guessing.
TraceFast itself runs no money operation. It starts a purchase; everything after that — the card, the invoice, the cancellation — is the provider's screen.
The rule: good standing
While the subscription is in good standing, the plan applies. The moment it is not — a renewal payment fails, the subscription is put on hold or expires, a downgrade takes effect, or a cancelled period ends — the account returns to Free and every API key on it is revoked.
Revocation is final. A key revoked this way stops working within 30 seconds of the platform recording the change (today's figure — the revoke dialog in the API keys cabinet always states the current one); for a failed renewal the clock starts when the payment provider reports the failure. The key is never restored, even if the payment succeeds an hour later. After paying, issue new keys and update your deployment.
What happens if a payment fails
There is no grace period. When a renewal payment fails:
- The account returns to Free at once, and every API key on it is revoked.
- Fix the payment method in the customer portal (Settings → Billing).
- Pay.
- Issue new API keys and put them in your deployment. The old keys do not come back.
Moving the next billing date in the customer portal is not a payment. Only a settled payment brings the plan back — and it never brings the keys back.
Cancelling
Cancellation takes effect at the next billing date only. The period you have paid for stays usable to its end; on that date the account returns to Free and every API key is revoked. There is no "cancel now" and no pause.
Changing plans
Plan changes happen in the customer portal, and the amount is the provider's arithmetic, not ours.
- Upgrade — takes effect immediately. Dodo Payments calculates the amount, taking the unused part of the period you have already paid for into account, and shows it before you confirm. The billing cycle restarts on the day of the upgrade, so your renewal date moves. Your keys keep working.
- Downgrade — takes effect at the next billing date. Until then your current plan and keys keep working. On that date every API key on the account is revoked, and you create new keys on the new plan. There is no refund or credit for the difference.
The daily quota does not reset
The daily request quota belongs to the account, not to the plan, and it does not reset when the plan changes:
- Upgrading mid-day raises the ceiling over a day already partly spent — it does not give back the requests made earlier that day.
- Downgrading mid-day can leave the account over the new ceiling until the quota resets at 00:00 UTC.
Refunds, disputes and chargebacks
All purchases are final and non-refundable. The narrow exceptions — a verified billing error, termination by us without cause, and rights that mandatory law does not allow to be excluded — are stated in the Refund & Cancellation Policy. Billing questions go to billing@tracefast.xyz.
A bank can still take a payment back through a chargeback. Write to billing@tracefast.xyz before disputing a charge with your bank — it is the faster way to a fix. What a dispute does to the account:
- A dispute is opened — nothing changes. The plan and the keys stay as they are for as long as the dispute runs.
- The dispute is lost, or a payment is refunded for any reason other than correcting a billing error — the subscription is cancelled, so there is no further charge; the account returns to Free and every API key on it is revoked, exactly as after a failed renewal.
- We refund a payment to correct our own billing error — the subscription and the keys stay as they are.
- The dispute is resolved in our favour — nothing changes.
A revoked key and billing
A request made with a revoked key is refused with 401 and
reason: key_revoked — see
when a key is refused. The
revocation may have come from billing — a lapsed subscription, a downgrade, a
lost dispute — rather than from you. The remedy is new keys after paying,
never a retry: waiting does not change the answer.
The audit log in the API keys cabinet shows such revocations as performed by the system, with the reason — see managing API keys.
