Daily activity of an address

For each day in a window, how many blocks changed the address's own account state, and which kind of change it was: balance, nonce, code or creation. Use it to tell a dormant address from a busy one, or to see when an address woke up.

chains/1 is a literal: the method serves Ethereum mainnet data. Other chain ids answer 404 chain_not_supported. There are no other parameters — an unknown one is refused rather than ignored.

What it covers, and what it does not

Only the address's own state. A block counts when the address's balance, nonce or code changed in it, or the account was created in it. Receiving a token or being called by a contract does not change the address's own state, so it is not counted here — for that, see activity of an address.
Only active days are listed. A day without activity has no entry, so points can hold fewer entries than days — or none at all.
The window ends at the latest day the daily aggregate holds, which can be a day or more before today. The response states no block height: meta.asOfBlock is absent on this method.

On 2026-08-27, 97 blocks changed the balance but only 96 changed the nonce: in one block the address received ETH without sending a transaction.

The four kinds overlap: one block that sends a transaction changes both the nonce and the balance, so the kinds do not add up to blocksActive.
