One block
Open this block in TraceFast →
One Ethereum block by height: its header — hash, parent, roots, fee recipient, gas, base fee, blob gas — and the totals of what it contains: transactions by outcome, contract creations, blob transactions, logs, validator withdrawals, value moved, and the fees burnt and paid. New to blocks? See blocks on ethereum.org.

| Parameter | In | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
number | path | integer | block height, 0 or more |
Access — an API key on the Enriched Data plan or higher (plans), or no key at all: pay per call with x402 at the same path on https://mpp.tracefast.xyz/api/v1, at the price its 402 states. As a tool for AI agents: get_block on the MCP server. Stable — see stability.
chains/1 is a literal: the method serves Ethereum mainnet data. Other chain
ids answer 404 chain_not_supported. There are no query parameters — an
unknown one is refused rather than ignored.
For the newest block without knowing its height, use the latest block: same body.
What it covers, and what it does not
- Totals, not the rows themselves. The block's transactions are in transactions of one block, its withdrawals in validator withdrawals of one block, the accounts it changed in accounts touched by one block, and its EIP-7702 authorizations in authorizations of one block.
- Some totals can be absent — never zero in their place. When a
block's receipt totals are not available,
successfulTxCount, failedTxCountandlogCountare absent together;totalGasFeesandtotalTipslikewise. A block that ran transactions never reports a zero fee. - The most recent blocks carry fewer fields.
withdrawalCountis absent for the newest blocks —totalWithdrawalGweiis always there, so a positive total with no count means "count not stated", never "no withdrawals".uniqueAddressCountandblobBaseFeeWeican also be absent on the newest blocks. See the latest block for such a body. - Fork-dependent fields are absent before their fork:
baseFeePerGasandburntFeesbefore EIP-1559 (London), the blob fields before EIP-4844 (Cancun).

}Amounts — gas, wei, gwei — are decimal strings, because they can exceed what a JSON number holds exactly. Counts and heights are integers.
data — the header
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
chainId | 1, Ethereum mainnet |
number | block height |
hash | block hash, lowercase |
parentHash | hash of the parent block |
timestamp | Unix time of the block, seconds |
feeRecipient | the address that received the block's priority fees (the header's beneficiary) |
stateRoot | state root after this block |
transactionsRoot, receiptsRoot | the header's transactions and receipts roots |
gasLimit, gasUsed | the block's gas limit and the gas its transactions used |
baseFeePerGas | base fee per gas, wei. Absent before EIP-1559 |
blobGasUsed, excessBlobGas | EIP-4844 blob gas. Absent before Cancun |
blobBaseFeeWei | blob base fee for this block, wei. Absent before Cancun, and can be absent on the newest blocks |
difficulty | the header's difficulty as a decimal string — "0" since the Merge |
extraData | the header's extra data, 0x-hex — often the builder's tag |
ommersCount | ommers (uncles) — 0 since the Merge |
data — the totals
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
txCount | transactions in the block |
successfulTxCount, failedTxCount | how many succeeded and failed. Absent together with logCount when not computed |
contractCreationCount | transactions that created a contract |
blobTxCount | EIP-4844 blob transactions |
logCount | receipt logs across all transactions |
withdrawalCount | validator withdrawals in the block. Absent on the newest blocks while it cannot be stated — never 0 in its place |
totalWithdrawalGwei | the withdrawals' total, gwei. Always stated |
totalValueWei | sum of the transactions' value, wei |
burntFees | base fees burnt, wei. Absent before EIP-1559 |
totalGasFees | total gas fees the transactions paid, wei |
totalTips | the part of totalGasFees that went to the fee recipient as tips, wei. Absent together with totalGasFees |
uniqueAddressCount | distinct addresses whose state the block touched. Absent while still being counted |
meta is the same on every method — see conventions.
Here meta.asOfBlock equals number.
Errors
| Status | code | When | details |
|---|---|---|---|
| 400 | bad_request | number is not a non-negative integer | reason: block_number_invalid |
| 404 | not_found | no block at that height yet — past the newest block the API serves | — |
| 422 | block_not_available | the block exists on chain but sits in a coverage gap; ask again later | reason: coverage_gap, coverageGapFromBlock, coverageGapToBlock, maxAvailableBlock |
Malformed input, unknown parameters and the key check's 401/403/429 are the same for every method — see conventions and API keys.
